The person behind it

I fix machines for a living.

I'm a mechanic. I spend my days with my hands inside things that have stopped working, figuring out why, and putting them right.

You learn things there you don't learn from a catalogue. That a machine is only ever as good as the bolt nobody checked. That most breakdowns were preventable months earlier. And that the person who installs something badly is never the person who has to live with it.

That's where Axovent came from.

I kept meeting gym owners who'd been handed a pile of boxes and a phone number. Equipment from one supplier, flooring from another, lighting from a third — and the moment something went wrong, everyone pointed at everyone else. They just wanted to open. Instead they became the project manager of a build they never signed up to run.

I thought: that's fixable. Not by selling more machines — by carrying the whole thing myself. One contract. One person accountable. If it's late, that's on me. If it's wrong, I fix it.

I've built Axovent in the hours around a full day's work. Early mornings, lunch breaks, nights, weekends. Quotes written at a kitchen table with my hands still sore. I won't pretend that's glamorous — most days it's just tired. But I have never once had to talk myself into showing up for it.

Because this is the thing I actually care about. I want Axovent to be who South Africa calls when they build a gym. Not the biggest supplier — the one who turns up, tells you the truth, and hands you a floor that works on opening day.

When you call Axovent, you get me. That's the whole promise.
